Book Writing Partner with John Maxwell
Charlie is a writer who has produced more than fifty books with John Maxwell since 1994 when they began working together. Prior to his collaboration with John, Charlie had worked as a restaurant chef in his hometown of New Orleans, as well as a college dean, teacher, car salesman, and worker in the oilfield. He earned a BA and an MA in English from the University of New Orleans.
Charlie serves on the board of 12Stone® Church, recognized by Outreach magazine in 2010 as the fastest growing church in the United States. Charlie has served at the church in various volunteer roles, including as a small group leader, coach, and trainer. He currently mentors several young leaders there. Charlie also travels to the UK once or twice a year to do training and consulting with the pastors of various churches as far north as Aberdeen, Scotland and as far south as Brixham, England.
Charlie does some screenwriting and also mentors a group of emerging writers at Whitestone Motion Pictures. Charlie wrote the screenplay for the award-winning short film The Candy Shop, which won the Crystal Heat Award at the Heartland Film Festival in 2011.
Charlie is president and co-owner with his wife, Stephanie, of Wetzel and Wetzel, LLC, which offers their services as writers, consultants, and story gurus. When he’s not writing or teaching, he enjoys cooking, reading, traveling, watching movies, working on home projects, studying Aikido with his teenage son, and boating with his wife and three children.
